Shoes! Shoes!! Shoes!!!

So I haven't always been a shoe enthusiast, but lately I find myself getting so "close" to certain colors. I love nudes. The colors are so soothing and relaxing and I have been keeping myself busy updating on some new stuffs. Gorgeous?

Why do "Fatties" get away with making fun of "Skinnies"?

This is the big question! "Columbiana" actress, Zoe Saldana, (whom I love very much) is in the media because of her (or perhaps lack of) her weight. She weighs a miserable 115pounds and some people think it is outrageous that her weight ever got mentioned in the bargain. See here
Zoe Saldana

So deal with it? Is it a problem that her weight got mentioned at all or that people are more outraged that she weighs a miserable 115pounds. I am quite sure that she did not stumble across that weight by accident; she must have worked at it and it is SHEER HARD WORK trying staying fit. Discipline, focus and hardwork are all a requirement. You MUST do things (exercise etc) and all that you don't want to do, ESPECIALLY when you don't want to do them or during the times that they are most hardest. So faulting Zoe for weighing so little is incredible to me.

I have come from forums and news websites where people have poked fun at her weight or made the skinny girl joke. So why then it is okay to make skinny jokes and not fatty jokes? What is good for the goose is good for the gander. Right? Wrong!

The fact is that it is hurtful both ways be it to the "skinny" or the "fatty"...So either stop the jokes or be willing to take as good as you get. Who is with me?

When the Media Makes You Go Beserk: The Amy and Sammy Bougzalo Story

It spread like wildfire (or much faster) yesterday on social media owing to the behavior displayed by restauranteurs Amy and Sammy of, "Amy's Baking Company". In a way, I did feel bad for Amy because she came under so much criticism. I also felt that Gordon Ramsey was stoking that fire quite unnecessarily. The couple were already floundering to have agreed to come on the show, so why stoke the fire even more as Ramsey was doing with his comments.

I disproved many times of some of Amy's antics but with the immense fire she came under, it sort of made you empathatise with her. Wouldn't you?
Here are some of the vicious exchanges that took place between the restaurant's owners and other people and to even take it further, you can watch the Youtube version here.

Some comments off Yelp
Absolutely disgusting. Have been there once and never bothered to leave a review. Now that the owners've finally shat themselves on public, I want my 5 cents in it.

I was in AZ in spring and was unfortunate to stop by their place for dinner. Well, boy, horrible it was. The food was undercooked and when I tried to send it back to the kitchen they said they can take it back, but I'd have to pay the full price for that pan-roasted salmon anyways. I told them I'd do so, but I'll have to report them to BBB and Visa. After that they agreed to take the plate back.

Never bothered to order the dessert since it looked like it's been in the fridge for a good month.

Stay away and never even look at their place. (Sasha, Los Angeles)

Hero for a Day: Doyin Oladipupo

Warms my heart on the teen's quick thinking.
A California teenager's fast thinking while hiding in a closet during a burglary resulted in the thieves leaving her house and walking into the handcuffs of the police waiting outside.
Doyin Oladipupo, 15, says that she hid in her parents walk-in closet when she heard the door bell ring and then the alarm of her family's home security system.
"I took off my shoes because I didn't want them to hear me, and I grabbed [the] phone," she told ABC News.
While on the phone with the 911 dispatcher, the Chula Vista, Calif., teen told the operator that there was an intruder in her house. The operator asked Doyin is she could still hear him upstairs.
At one point during the break-in, the operator could head one of the intruders say, "Bring the, bring the bucket over here."
Crouching underneath a rack of clothes, Doyin remained perfectly still when seconds later the intruders entered and began stealing from her parents' bedroom.

Talk Business: Leadership Styles

There are some leaders we love to follow and then there are others we just abhor. What kind of leadership pattern do you have and how do you navigate it?
This is Amanda's take on it- follow her on twitter @ebokosia
Affiliative: People first, tasks second.
In affiliative leadership, there is a particular focus on the person and his state of happiness rather than the tasks at hand. Although these type of leaders provide a lot of room for positive feedback and praises, they seldom offer constructive advice to improve performance. If used by itself, it could create a culture of where mediocrity is accepted. However, It is great to use in situations where  morale needs to be strengthened.
Authoritative: Most effective. Show us the vision, for the long haul.
Authoritative leaders are visionaries. They allow team members to buy into the shared vision—by reminding them about the end goal. In this way, they see how their work fits into a larger puzzle. For the authoritative leader, their employees or supporters know the value of their work. The bonus? They become more loyal and committed. In this approach, room is given to experiment and take calculated risks, which promotes a more positive environment. However, it works best when trying a new direction–  not when working with experts.
Coaching: The mentor approach. Invest in personal/professional development
These leaders that adopt the ‘coaching’ style with their teammates,  strengthen their skills and our thought as mentors. The down? It takes time and the employee or teammate must be receptive to change. The good?  In ideal circumstances, when your teammate’s skills strengthen so will the company overall.
Coercive: What you say goes– no ‘ifs’ ‘ands’ or ‘buts’ about it.
A “my way or the highway” blunt way of leading, the coercive leadership style should only be used in state of an emergency. Well, what qualifies as an emergency? When the current state of a company is failing (and all other styles are useless)  and there’s an immediate need to do a drastic turnaround, the kind that pushes people into a better way of working. The coercive leadership approach offers little to no positive rewards. If used too much, it can lower morale.
